The UPSHIFT program will empower young people to become resilient citizens who are more actively engaged with their families, schools, and daily lives, and who contribute to the economy. Its goal is to enable them to support and give back to their communities, as well as become increasingly productive through employment or self-employment. The UPSHIFT social innovation and entrepreneurship program is part of the World Bank's portfolio of solutions for youth employment.
By the end of the program, at least 1,400 young people, at least 60% of whom will be girls, will have received training in transferable skills such as teamwork, self-esteem, creativity, and communication. They will also receive support in developing digital skills and raising awareness about the challenges of climate change. At least 500 young people will benefit from the social innovation curriculum, while approximately 250 will receive support in developing projects to launch youth-led businesses.
Orange Morocco, through its Foundation, will join the UPSHIFT program to support and train young people enrolled. Its employees will also contribute to the program at various stages, focusing on areas such as digital skills.
The project will be carried out in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education (Second Chance Schools initiative) and the Ministry of Youth (Youth Houses and Women's Centers).
