These are important innovations across all products that will arrive throughout 2023, covering data management, file protection, and IT infrastructure security, as well as establishing a higher level of reliability, security, and scalability.

NAS-DS923-Synology-wSolutions for secure, next-generation data management

Synology's new features include three different solutions to ensure database security, enabling easy collaboration and file sharing, as well as the storage of large volumes of data. The new version 7.2 of the DiskStation Manager operating system will be available in early 2023 and will incorporate full volume encryption for greater peace of mind. It will deliver a 48% improvement in storage performance compared to shared folder-based encryption. Synology will also introduce WORM-type folder storage, which prevents data modification or deletion for a specified period. Similar to the new immutable backups in Hyper Backup, this prevents any changes after creation, helping to protect data against ransomware and other cyber threats.

To facilitate collaboration and file sharing, the cloud solution will be updated Synology DriveThis allows you to keep files more secure when sharing them between computers by applying watermarks and download policies. Remote wipe capabilities minimize the risk of file loss thanks to folder synchronization across both Windows and macOS systems. Automatic login with Active Directory credentials, as well as provisioning backup and synchronization tasks, facilitates mass deployment. Synology Drive also ensures that files in use are not edited or overwritten. Furthermore, multi-channel SMB transfer support utilizes all available network connections between servers and clients to significantly increase the performance of SMB file transfers.

Throughout the coming year, new systems designed for file and object storage will also be launched. Scale-out clusters will be significantly faster than current Synology solutions, with virtually linear performance scaling. The first generation of scale-out systems will support clusters of up to 60 servers for over 12 PB of effective storage, over 60 GB/s sequential write throughput, and over 80,000 concurrent connections. They will also offer over 99.99% availability and support data protection suites Hyper Backup and Active Backup from Synology.

Data protection for global backup management

Synology will launch a new management platform in 2023 that will jointly manage Active Backup and C2 Backup. This platform aims to enable seamless management, deployment, and monitoring of backup tasks across an organization's entire IT infrastructure, regardless of location or scale. The new platform will bring together Synology's on-premises and cloud-based solutions, providing IT administrators and MSPs with more efficient tools to protect and ensure the timely recovery of any device or service.

Synology W video surveillance cameraThe best video surveillance with AI-powered cameras

Synology's 500 series IP cameras will launch early next year and will offer superior performance, security, and integration, with all settings managed directly from the platform Synology Surveillance StationEdge AI capabilities and intrusion detection zones free up recording server resources to enable larger AI deployments. However, dedicated processing accelerates searches for people and vehicles anywhere in the video frame.

The 500 series cameras, available in two models, will feature 5MP sensors for 16:9 wide-angle recording and 3K (2880 x 1620) video at 30 FPS. The cameras will support Power over Ethernet (PoE) and be weatherproof (IP67), allowing for both indoor and outdoor installation. They will also be compliant with US NAA/TAA standards. Ultimately, they have been designed to provide enhanced security by incorporating robust security features characteristic of Synology's enterprise products.

Hybrid Cloud Services for Optimal Protection:

Synology has also introduced two hybrid cloud services to ensure automatic detection of breaches and misuse, while simultaneously protecting devices and credentials. First, Active Insight is evolving to automatically prevent user-related activities that violate data protection. The new data loss prevention feature monitors actions such as logins, file access, and shared task creation, while comparing the checksums of uploaded or shared files. When thresholds or rules are triggered, the system can send alerts or take action, such as disconnecting clients suspected of ransomware infection.

Meanwhile, the Synology C2 Identity continues to expand, with a strong emphasis on combining security best practices with ease of use. Next year, C2 Identity will receive several enhancements to enable passwordless logins across on-premises and online services and devices. Integration with Windows Hello and Apple Face ID/Touch ID will facilitate authentication on endpoints managed by the solution. Employees using managed terminals will be able to automatically log in to web services that support SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language), with the option to enable two-factor authentication for more sensitive services, such as a company's ERP or CRM systems.

Router-synology-WRX560-madrid2-wA new Wi-Fi 6 router with advanced networking features:

The new WRX560 router, based on the SRM 1.3 platform, incorporates the same high-end network management features as the RT6600ax model released in 2022. However, it offers a more affordable price of €209 and is now available from authorized retailers. It also features powerful internal dual-band radios and a 2.5 GbE LAN/WAN port. It can also be easily added as a mesh node to any RT6600ax router or used as a standalone solution for homes and offices.
