RS has introduced numerous changes and improvements to its supply chain systems and processes as part of a five-year program to strengthen its supply chain and make it a key competitive advantage for the business. This includes a shift towards a new European supply chain structure, increased and optimized network efficiency, and improved communication and engagement with key suppliers.
These changes have enabled RS to increase its new product introductions from 5,000 per year in 2008 to 5,000 per month at the close of the last fiscal year on March 31, 2011, while increasing its staff by only 10%. It has also reduced its total supply chain costs by 9.2% as a percentage of sales and increased customer satisfaction with delivery and value for money.
The European Supply Chain Excellence Awards recognize organizations across Europe each year that demonstrate a high level of excellence in their supply chains. This award highlights the importance and opportunities that excellence in supply chain management brings and is recognized for its rigorous evaluation process.
