Vertiv's membership in Treedom complements its recent Data Center Sustainability Guide Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Activities Report generated during 2021. Specifically, the Data Center Sustainability Guide was created to share advice and resources with industry stakeholders to implement tools that improve the energy efficiency of their facilities. The ESG Report, meanwhile, details Vertiv's approach to environmental, social, and governance aspects in its daily operations and provides guidance for Vertiv's long-term proactive strategy to mitigate its environmental impact while meeting the rapidly growing industry demand of recent years, creating value for the company and its stakeholders.
The Vertiv Forest initiative not only absorbs CO2 emissions, but also contributes to improving air quality and combating climate change with a globally active strategy for the benefit of the planet's energy resources.
“Treedom’s chosen method is to plant new trees within agroforestry systems capable of creating sustainable ecosystems from both an environmental and economic perspective,” emphasizes José Alfonso Gil, Country Manager for Spain and Portugal, “and we are proud to have joined this important initiative that reaffirms our commitment to the planet. Each of Treedom’s projects consists of a combination of species created according to the characteristics of each territory and community, a system that maximizes the environmental, economic, and social benefits that the selected trees are capable of generating.”
Trees are valuable allies in the fight against climate change because they produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, trapping it in their trunks, branches, and roots. By doing so, they improve air quality and help mitigate climate change by absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere.
The 1,700 trees of the Vertiv Forest will multiply, and other offices around the world are expected to join the initiative to build an ever-growing Vertiv Forest. This gift reinforces Vertiv's ESG strategies internationally, celebrating a new year with a more sustainable world.
