Working with Avaya, Leeds Beckett has created a high-tech environment for both students and staff, helping the university meet expectations for attracting and retaining applicants. Leeds Beckett ranked first in the world for technology resources in the independent 2016 International Student Barometer survey, with a 94.6% satisfaction rate, thanks in part to Avaya technology.
The Wi-Fi operates on Avaya's Fabric network, meaning it can self-configure, significantly reducing the resources needed for day-to-day maintenance and allowing the Leeds Beckett IT team to focus on more innovative projects. Avaya Fabric provides a reliable and resilient backbone to the Leeds Beckett network, enabling the IT team to collaborate better with faculty and students, improve student retention, and ultimately contribute to the university's continued success.
Steve Rafferty, Managing Director of Avaya UK, comments: “As student expectations have risen, so has the need for universities to ensure student retention, making it more important than ever to have the right technology in place. Leeds Beckett University has seen firsthand the benefits of Avaya’s Fabric solution in helping to equip both students and the university with the necessary tools.”
Dr. Basem El-Haddadeh, Director of IT Services at Leeds Beckett, adds: “Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and we want to deliver an excellent education and experience. Our students increasingly expect fast, reliable, and integrated connectivity both on and off campus. Since its launch, Avaya’s Fabric networking technology has enabled our students and staff to communicate effectively and make the most of the educational opportunities available. We want to remain at the forefront of university technology, and we believe Avaya will enable us to do just that.”
