The car, powered exclusively by electricity, already delivers high efficiency, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds. The goal is to reach a top speed of 250 km/h. To achieve this level of performance, Formulec is collaborating with carefully selected technical specialists.

To transmit power from the battery to the electric motor, the car's interconnection system uses the renowned high-performance connector, also used in the Power.S3* range of electric and hybrid EV/HEV vehicles, specifically the RCS800. FCI develops innovative processes to offer reliable solutions for high-voltage (250 A/400-800 V) DC connection for the battery, junction box, and converter, to name a few examples.

In 2011, FCI will accompany Formulec during the car's global launch at various international events and trade fairs. The goal is to organize the first single-seater electric vehicle races by 2012 at the latest.

“The Formulec project is growing and gaining increasing traction with policymakers and the public. We are delighted that FCI has decided to join us,” says Eric Barbaroux, President of Formulec. “FCI’s technological expertise makes them an invaluable partner in taking our car further and further. Together, we can pave the way for a greener future in motorsport.”.

“The Formulec project perfectly aligns with our vision of what technology should be. Like Formulec, FCI develops technological milestones that will become the benchmark for mainstream applications in the not-too-distant future,” explains Liam Butterworth, Managing Director and Vice President of FCI Motorized Vehicles. “FCI Motorized Vehicle has always pushed for the highest standards and requirements for its connectors, going far beyond what customers demand. Now we have the opportunity to demonstrate that Power.S3 interconnect solutions can overcome the most challenging conditions while maintaining consistent performance. It’s very exciting to be part of the Formulec adventure!”
