Last February, the service for the Continuity of Critical Services for CCS went into production. The services were awarded to Fibernet, which submitted the most advantageous offer for CCS in a public tender. These services are included within the Three-Year Action Plan for Contingency Risk Reduction and Compliance with the Technology area, as well as under Solvency II, aimed at strengthening the Data Center's current security against any type of contingency, thus guaranteeing business availability. All of this is in accordance with the established RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) parameters. From a practical perspective, some of the benefits provided by Fibernet include 24/7 access, immediate contingency response time, dedicated server access, significant cost savings and improved service level agreements (SLAs), and closer customer relationships.
According to Rafael Carracedo, Director of Systems and Information Technologies, "this solution makes it possible to continue evolving in the development of a more efficient and cost-effective Backup Center, with a view to the goal of evolving in the future to an active-active center.".
The backup servers and storage arrays for the CCS, using asynchronous remote backup, have been located at Fibernet's Backup and Recovery Solution (BRS) in Tres Cantos, Madrid. The connection to the main data center was established using DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) with Fibernet's proprietary technology.
The data center connectivity solution designed and implemented by Fibernet consists of a DWDM infrastructure using DUSAC DWDM multiplexers in a point-to-point configuration with nine native optical channels. Optical path redundancy is provided through the use of a Fibernet optical switch (OSW-3). This solution enhances inter-site connections while allowing for future expansion without short-term investment.
Antonio Gorrachatgui, Director of the Fibernet Data Center, indicates that "this is a solution open to any evolution in terms of the expansion and provision of new services or applications in the Fibernet Backup Center.".
