Infinera's Intelligent Transport Network, which offers the DTN-X platform, enables GlobeNet to differentiate its services and increase network efficiency as network capacity increases.

GlobeNet operates over 23,500 kilometers of submarine fiber optic cable, connecting the Americas with cutting-edge technology and services. As a carrier-to-carrier service provider, GlobeNet offers a wide range of high-performance, high-capacity, and low-latency services, and has demonstrated its expertise in each of its markets in Latin America and throughout North America. GlobeNet serves the wholesale market, offering high-capacity submarine infrastructure and terrestrial network density, where high-performance circuits can be deployed for carriers, often on accelerated timelines, to meet their growing bandwidth demands.

GlobeNet has deployed the Infinera Intelligent Transport Network across its entire U.S. terrestrial backhaul network. The Infinera DTN-X provides GlobeNet with the ability to deliver 100 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) of coherent transmission today, through 500 Gb/s super-channels, with a large-scale forwarding design to support Terabit super-channels in the future. This upgrade gives GlobeNet a network that can deliver more than eight Terabits per second (Tb/s) of transmission capacity over a single fiber. To put this in perspective, eight Tb/s is more capacity than the entire Internet in 2005, and is enough to simultaneously stream more than one million high-definition videos.
The DTN-X is designed to scale to support up to 12 Tb/s OTN switching, as well as Fast Shared Mesh protection to provide rapid service protection even in the event of multiple fiber cuts.

“The global communications infrastructure is growing rapidly due to the increasing demand for cloud-based, medium-to-rich services. With this network upgrade, GlobeNet demonstrates our commitment to reliably delivering the most advanced services available to our customers,” said Erick W. Contag, President and COO of GlobeNet. “The deployment of the Infinera Intelligent Transportation Network allows GlobeNet to offer today’s advanced services while simultaneously preparing for continued future capacity demand.”

"GlobeNet's selection of an Infinera Intelligent Transport Network for its North American backbone underscores the value of our solutions to wholesale operators running mission-critical networks," said Scott Chandler, Infinera's Vice President of North American Sales. "The Infinera Intelligent Transport Network enables GlobeNet to automate, converge, and simplify its optical transport network to reliably deliver advanced services to its customers."

About GlobeNet:
GlobeNet provides international capacity between North and South America through its award-winning submarine cable system, serving Brazil, Bermuda, Colombia, the USA, and Venezuela. Spanning over 23,500 kilometers, the sophisticated submarine cable network offers the lowest latency available in the Americas. The network links arrival stations in Tuckerton, New Jersey, and Boca Raton, FL, USA, with cable landing stations in Fortaleza (CE) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil; São David, Bermuda; Barranquilla, Colombia; and Maiquetía, Venezuela. GlobeNet is a holding company of the BTG II Infrastructure Fund.
