The move marks an increase in activity surrounding Huawei's flagship skills initiative, which has been growing steadily since its launch in Europe in 2011.
Seeds for the Future, Huawei's global CSR program, is a cornerstone of Huawei's efforts to address the digital skills gap. This elite ICT development program selects gifted students for a study trip to China. Participants gain firsthand knowledge of the workings of a multinational ICT company, receiving cross-cultural work experience and language training.
The program currently spans 57 countries worldwide. In Europe alone, 23 countries are participating so far, and more than 500 young people have taken part in the program since its launch in Europe in 2011. Over the next five years, 2,000 students will study and gain experience at the company's headquarters in China, highlighting Huawei's commitment to taking this initiative to the next level. Today's announcement also reflects the company's overall focus on continued investment in a prosperous and digital Europe—another example of this unwavering commitment is Huawei's fixed investment of 10% of revenue in R&D each year.
