The service to be developed by the PreZero-Urbaser joint venture will allocate 94% of its investment to acquiring new machinery to renew the current fleet. This will include 145 new, fully sustainable vehicles, among them 129 trucks powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and 16 electric vehicles.

As a key focus on innovation, the service includes fleet management through an electronic system that optimizes waste collection routes and improves the safety of employees and citizens.

Similarly, real-time GPS data will be incorporated for constant monitoring and measurement of the service provided. Volumetric sensors will also be installed in the paper and cardboard containers. This will allow for tracking the fill capacity of the containers.

In accordance with European Union directives, the contract includes, among other services, the residential and commercial collection of bio-waste (organic waste), food scraps and packaging, batteries, clothing, and glass. It also includes complementary collection services from healthcare facilities, markets, and dead animals, as well as the collection of construction and demolition waste and door-to-door collection of commercial cardboard.
