• Reduced operating costs. Telefónica has selected the Cisco ASR 9000 platform with IOS XR software for its advanced features, including its proven reliability in routing critical traffic. The modular Cisco IOS XR operating system will also simplify the company's network operations.

Thanks to network programming via next-generation APIs such as NETCONF/YANG in IOS XR, the ASR 9000 platform provides Telefónica with the flexibility needed to adapt to current and future requirements, including greater network control to deliver a better experience for end customers. Cisco IOS XR facilitates transparent network flexibility and system redundancy.
 • Reduced risks. The Cisco Advanced Services division helps reduce operational risks by offering Telefónica various options, including migration advice to avoid service interruption.
 • Greater agility. Cisco IOS XR and ASR 9000 are a key pillar of Cisco Open Network Architecture, helping Telefónica evolve and obtain even more value from the network through innovative features such as automation, abstraction (SDN/NFV), telemetry and analytics.
The Cisco ASR 9000 platform is used worldwide as the foundation for providing services such as 4G mobile internet, enterprise-class Ethernet, and broadband and video for the residential segment. It also includes additional integrated capabilities such as DDoS protection through collaboration with Arbor and segment routing in IOS XR.
