The new ePDUs offer intelligent power distribution solutions for applications where racks are not tall enough to accommodate 0U ePDUs. They are also suitable for use in wall-mount cabinets where rear access is not possible. All new ePDUs feature cable retention and are suitable for operation up to 60°C, making them ideal for high-temperature IT environments. The Basic and Metered models are available now, with Switched, Metered Outlet, and Managed models to be introduced later this year.
To help minimize network costs, up to eight ePDUs can be daisy-chained from a single IP port and IP address. They also feature hot-swappable control modules, meaning modules can be replaced or upgraded without interrupting power to the loads. The metered versions of the new ePDUs offer billing accuracy of ±1%, making it easy to monitor energy consumption. The new range supports mass configuration and upgrades, reducing administration time and improving overall efficiency.
Combined with Eaton's virtualization-ready Intelligent Power Manager (IPM) software, the new ePDUs can be easily monitored and managed from a virtualization dashboard. When used with optional sensors, such as Eaton's Environmental Monitoring Probe (EPM), the ePDUs can trigger environmental alerts, such as for excessive temperature or humidity, and initiate disaster recovery policies, including automatic migration of virtual servers to a backup center or controlled system shutdown to protect critical workloads.
