Designed to support a mixed copper and fiber infrastructure in data centers, the new system achieves the highest capacity in a 19-inch rack. Users can save space and money by combining copper and fiber within a single panel and utilizing the available space to the side, above, and below the 19-inch enclosure.

At the heart of the mixed media platform are two innovative product concepts: the Universal Connectivity Platform (UCP) and the NETpodium rack system.

The UCP is designed for rack efficiency and multi-media deployment. It includes a versatile range of components, including patch panels, a subfloor panel, a top-mount panel, pre-terminated links, and adapter modules. A common patch panel, either angled or flat, accommodates both copper and fiber cabling, and the units can be installed inside or outside the 19-inch rack enclosure. Side mounting brackets maximize usable space along the rack system's vertical uprights, while adaptable mounting brackets can be strategically used above and below the racks.

The UCP accepts pre-terminated copper harnesses, fiber cassettes, and MRJ21 high-density copper connectivity cassettes for faster deployment and high reliability. It is also fully compatible with TE's AMPTRAC connectivity management solution.

The NETpodium rack system complements the UCP, both inside and outside the 19-inch enclosure, while maintaining the electrical and mechanical integrity of the channel. It is based on an open structure concept that can be transformed into a closed cabinet if needed. Its high-density cable managers incorporate corner brackets and fingers in a single unit. These provide bend radius control for copper and fiber and excellent support for patch panels in high-density environments. They also ensure cable structure integrity and prevent accidental tampering or removal of connections.

A tool-less locking mechanism allows for quick installation, enabling all accessories to be secured in just three steps: insertion, positioning, and locking. Thanks to the innovative aluminum profile design of the NETpodium rack system, the installer has the freedom to mount accessories wherever needed simply by adjusting the position of the fixing element along the T-shaped channel.

Key benefits include a common appearance for data center patch frames, support for standards-compliant installation both inside and outside the 19-inch enclosure, and additional patch space within the frame when installing high-density port switches. It also acts as a building block that infrastructure managers can deploy today and still be confident it's flexible enough to support most future-proof network topologies.

For the installer, it is lightweight, versatile and easy to install, offers tool-free accessory mounting, and when deployed with UCP can eliminate patching headaches.
