The company also announced the release of R75.20, a new version of its Software Blades; the Check Point 61000 Security System, a new mobile carrier-level solution and the industry's fastest security gateway; and SecurityPower, a new metric for monitoring security performance. This new metric allows customers to estimate their security needs by comparing them to the Security Power Unit (SPU) rating of each security solution.

For IT administrators, measuring the raw throughput (Gbps) of a security appliance rarely reflects its performance in a real-world environment, where different security technologies are combined to protect the network. To address this issue, Check Point introduces SecurityPower, a new security performance metric that can be used to measure the performance requirements for different types of customers. For example, if we were to activate the Firewall and IPS capabilities for a 400 Mbps network link, we would need 265 SPUs (SecurityPower), while in a larger environment, with a demand of 1,000 Mbps with Firewall, IPS, and Antivirus enabled, we would need up to 1,003 SPUs. Customers can use these values as benchmarks when comparing SecurityPower (SPU) ratings of any device, allowing them to select the gateway that meets their specific needs in terms of power and scalability.

Check Point has developed its new device for data centers, the Check Point 21400, with SecurityPower scalability in mind. Its design optimizes the performance of a full range of software blades, providing large enterprises and data centers with the next-generation platform they need to design their 3D security systems. The Check Point 21400 boasts a 2,900 SPU rating, the highest performance and SPU rating available for a 2U hardware design. The Check Point 21400 also features a new design to deliver protection in low-latency, transaction-oriented environments, boosting throughput to up to 100 Gbps.

The 21400 device incorporates Check Point's award-winning Software Blade Architecture technology, which allows companies to scale their security platforms to meet their current and future needs without compromising the speed of their networks.
