VDC is a Cloud IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) solution deployed over fully private communications, providing a comprehensive approach to deploying infrastructure on an elastic and flexible platform with maximum security. The solution is particularly attractive to multinational clients, clients requiring infrastructure services, and clients needing to hybridize their private clouds.
The new VDC 3.0 version incorporates a large number of improvements and new features available to all service customers.
Among them are:
• Auto-scaling infrastructure: to cope with peak demand or unexpected situations. The infrastructure flexibly adapts to the business as it grows or shrinks.
• Marketplace: includes applications and middleware such as databases, application servers or web servers so that the user can purchase them as a service.
• Dedicated physical environment: This is a new VDC modality that allows the creation of a dedicated physical environment with the same characteristics as a Virtual Data Center.
In this context of digital transformation, Telefónica has joined VMware's exclusive Showcase program, which aims to accelerate the growth of Cloud services for large companies based on VMware technology.
Telefónica and VMware are also developing a centralized management model that will allow VDC customers to manage their cloud infrastructure deployed across various local nodes, as well as international cloud connectivity services, through a single portal.
“International capabilities also allow us to implement business continuity solutions with the quality and stability required by large companies.” This is the case with Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, part of the Bertelsmann Group's publishing division, which has deployed a Disaster Recovery solution with Telefónica between Spain and Miami.
Telefónica aims to facilitate companies' digital transformation by providing them with all the necessary elements to carry out this change and assisting them at every stage. Cloud technology is the key pillar of this process. Therefore, the Telco has launched the Living Cloud initiative, which embodies its cloud strategy for large companies in Spain.
