Tissat1According to industry reports compiled by Tissat, “more than 50% of companies will outsource the hosting of their data and applications for security and confidentiality reasons over the next five years.” This is a current need for all companies that handle a considerable volume of data, due to the risks they face from the widespread use of new technologies.

The data center the company is building in Castellón, known as Walhalla, has received the highest rating a data center can achieve: Tier IV certification from the Uptime Institute. This represents the highest level of availability and service continuity a data center can guarantee. Only 13 centers worldwide possess this level of security, four of which are located in Europe.

The building has been designed from the outset to meet all the requirements that guarantee the center's continuous operation even in the event of an incident in the electrical and mechanical systems, and regardless of any circumstance (technical or meteorological, cyber or terrorist attack, or natural disaster). Based on a formula of lower energy consumption and greater competitiveness, and with an investment of 10 million euros, the building will be erected in Castellón in July 2011

The physical system is based on the TIA 942 standard and the Uptime Institute's Tier IV rating, and therefore meets conditions such as:

- Physically separated power and DC buildings.
- Protection against winds up to 120 km/h.
- Double perimeter fence.
- Complete isolation of different work areas.
- Double or triple conduit entry points to the building.
- Level 3 explosion-proof system
. - Electromagnetic protection.
- Personnel access controlled by a dual biometric system.
- Fire protection: fire resistance >1 hour throughout and >2 hours in work areas; early detection; water mist fire suppression.
- Continuous recording.
- Integrated control of ISO 20000, ISO 27000, ISO 16000, PAS-55, and OHSAS 18001 standards.

Tissat3Energy efficiency, a priority at Walhalla.
Furthermore, this is an eco-efficient data center, as it reduces one of today's major rising costs: energy costs. Energy is the second most important cost to consider, impacting both the bottom line and the environment.
In this respect, the Walhalla project addresses a challenge faced by all companies: providing strategic services with a certain level of security and quality while prioritizing energy efficiency. This center has a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of less than 1.11, meaning that for every kW used for power, only 0.11 kW are used for cooling the equipment. This equates to a 41% electricity saving and a 12% reduction in CO2 emissions.

Its distinctive energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technology sets this center apart from others worldwide. Thanks to this project, Tissat will be able to offer its high-value-added ICT services not only to companies in the Valencian Community but also nationally and internationally. Furthermore, the province of Castellón will become a technological benchmark for energy efficiency and cost savings from the moment of its opening.
