The instrument panel incorporates Cypress's CapSense CY8C21534 chip, an AEC-Q100 certified device. AEC-Q100 specifications guarantee that the components meet the demanding standards of Automotive Quality Systems. Each control panel has between six and eight numbered mechanical buttons that can be programmed to perform functions selected by the driver. The user simply touches the button to view the programmed function and then presses the button to activate it. The console can operate three functions, including the navigation system, AM/FM radio, and hands-free phone.
Cypress's approved automotive CapSense devices are available in both Grade A (-40°C to 85°C) and Grade E (-40°C to 125°C) versions, which are not typically found in most competitor products. CapSense for automotive applications provides attractive and highly functional interfaces that are more durable than mechanical buttons and toggles. CapSense proximity sensing offers a detection range of up to 25 cm and saves energy by activating the interface only when needed. These devices are ideal for in-car applications such as audio, navigation, climate control, and lighting control, as well as exterior applications such as trunk release and keyless entry.
