This new procedure has been designed to meet the current weight reduction needs of the new generation of aircraft. An A380 requires more than 500 km of cables with different characteristics, and each section must be identified to facilitate maintenance. Until now, those responsible for marking the cables used a marker-type tool to monitor the process.
This new technique, which has been the subject of several patent applications by Airbus and Laselec, should be implemented among most aeronautical wiring companies.
The ULYS Modena range of models is designed to evolve and meet all these needs. Intended for low production rates, the base ULYS 110 system can be adapted to achieve the unparalleled productivity of the ULYS 990, equipped with two lasers. Laselec has also created the MRO 200 for aircraft maintenance, modification, and repair centers. Both the ULYS Modena and MRO 200 are PC-controlled and fully automated, making them easy to use and ensuring high performance.
Laselec has also designed a sample tester, the MT 200, which checks the UV markability of cables under development and performs periodic production checks.
The COMET system complements this equipment, verifying the contrast of the applied marking. Its software analyzes the data obtained in real time using a digital camera and a dual-fiber optic sample illumination system.
