In recent years, Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies have been refined and simplified. New tablets, smartphones, and other devices include NFC functionality for electronic wallet applications. Furthermore, the high security of low-frequency data transmission leads us to believe that the ideal solution would be a component that supports both communication techniques.
The new 2D1D15 series provides two orthogonal 2D windings designed to operate at low frequencies (125 kHz standard) and a third orthogonal winding that operates at high frequencies (13.56 MHz standard).
This compact and innovative antenna is equipped with a NiZn ferrite core featuring high surface resistivity (>10 Mohm/mm) and medium permeability, enabling it to operate at both high and low frequencies and offering stable performance across a wide temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). The 2D1D15 series has an identical form factor to the 125kHz transponders in the 3DC15 family and can be supplied with a label, enclosure, or special shock mount.
The new 2D1D15 series is offered with standard inductance values of 4.77 mH @ 125 kHz and 6 µH @ 13.56 MHz. This antenna can be ordered with custom inductance parameters to achieve the customer's desired performance.
Its surface mount design (SMD) allows for easy use in the automated process of assembly on printed circuit boards (lead-free soldering process), thus eliminating manual handling that could harm the winding of the part.
The 2D1D15 complies with AEC-Q-200 (one of the most stringent quality standards for electronic components) for automotive applications. This ensures reliable performance and reliability in both domestic and industrial settings.
Both the inductance and the Quality factor “Q” have been measured at 13.56MHz and are appropriate for RFID applications with ISO15693 (neighborhood: I-CODE) and ISO 14443 (proximity: MIFARE) interfaces.
