Invicta is a flexible printed circuit board (FPC) antenna that is easy to integrate into a design. It connects directly to the PCB via a cable and an IPX MHF (UFL) connector. The antenna comes with a 100 mm cable as standard, and other cable lengths and connector options are available upon request.
An FPC antenna differs from an SMD antenna in that it operates independently of the ground plane length and does not require a matching antenna, making the design cycle for Invicta simpler and shorter.
The FPC antenna also simplifies manufacturing, as it attaches with a simple self-adhesive strip and can be curved and inserted into a design's housing. This antenna style is ideal for small to medium-volume manufacturing.
Antenova designed the Invicta antenna primarily for battery-powered smart devices for home and office use, where a single device provides global coverage. Typical home applications include smart meters, home automation systems, wireless sensor networks, and smoke and intrusion alarms. It is also used for remote monitoring in industrial and medical environments.
Commenting, Antenova's Product Marketing Manager, Michael Castle, says:
“An antenna’s efficiency is related to its size, and larger antennas generally provide better performance. The Invicta antenna will be a winner because it performs better than PCB trace antennas and delivers exceptional performance and range in exchange for a relatively small footprint.”.
