As its main innovation, Ficosa is presenting its CarCom technology platform at this event, through which the company will connect CityNow with vehicles. This pioneering solution allows for the modular integration of various connectivity solutions in order to enable direct communication between the vehicle and the new technologies that will shape the future of mobility (high-precision positioning, digitally tuned antennas, and readiness for the rapid introduction of 5G technology when it becomes available).
One of the technological solutions integrated into the CarCom platform is the C-V2X Onboard Units (OBUs), which Ficosa also supplies and integrates into Panasonic's Smart City vehicles. The OBU is a key device for connected mobility, enabling vehicles in this futuristic city to communicate with each other and exchange information with the infrastructure thanks to C-V2X technology.
Ficosa's antenna product line will also be featured. The Flat Roof Antenna is an innovative system comprised of a flat module that allows for the integration of multiple antennas, imperceptibly and without altering the vehicle's design, as its flat shape allows it to be installed beneath the roof. Among the advantages offered by this device are the integration of all antennas into a single module; greater ease for OEMs when integrating antennas into the vehicle, as they only need to install a single system instead of several individual antennas; a more attractive design due to the module's concealment; and cost reduction.
