Similarly, when an asset is moved within approximately 70 meters of a particular Piccolo Plus, the new ping from the RF tag will be detected, and its ID will be sent to the server. The location of each Piccolo Plus is known via GPS, and as such, the last known location of the asset is within the Piccolo Plus's signal reception range.
An RF tag is attached to a trailer or container being towed by a truck. A Piccolo Plus is installed in the truck cab. Once the trailer is detached from the truck, the Piccolo Plus will lose communication with the RF tag and send a disconnection message to the server with its GPS location information.
The RF tag has the option to send two digital inputs. For example, if the container door is open, the RF tag will send the information to the Piccolo Plus, which will generate an alarm message that will be sent via the cellular network to the server.
The RF tag can also monitor temperatures in multiple refrigerators in a supermarket or in a refrigerated trailer in a yard.
In addition to its ability to control and monitor active RF tags, the Piccolo Plus includes the following features:
- OTA Engine Diagnostics - OBDII/J1939/J1708
- Driver behavior detection and analysis
- Driver ID
- Wi-Fi – Enables the Piccolo Plus to act as a mobile hotspot for internet access
- Garmin Interface
- Temperature monitoring
