“Many people view wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity to the cloud as something that can only be achieved through a significant investment of time, resources, and money,” said Larry Kraft, Area Marketing and Sales Manager at Digi International. “But things have changed. Our iDigi Gateway development kit demystifies remote wireless M2M connectivity by providing a proof-of-concept experience in under an hour. And we provide all the sample applications used to generate that experience so customers can connect their own devices to the cloud.”.
“Sprint is using iDigi Gateway development kits and finds them very effective for providing training and capability demonstrations to our field service engineers and sales technicians,” said Wayne Ward, Head of Emerging Solutions at Sprint. “The kits allow us to easily conduct proof-of-concept trials with our current and prospective customers. They are a valuable tool in helping us demonstrate the power of M2M communications. With more than 10 years of experience in the M2M communications field, Sprint has been at the forefront of the wireless industry revolution.”.
The iDigi Gateway development kit is designed to simplify the setup of a ZigBee network, the installation of an iDigi device integration application (iDigi Dia), and seamless connectivity to the iDigi Device Cloud for integrating services into standard enterprise applications via the internet. Using the kit, users can access a Google App demo and remotely turn a light on or off and monitor its usage history using Digi's wireless technologies.
The iDigi Gateway development kit includes the ConnectPort X4 ZigBee-3G mobile gateway, the Digi XBee smart plug, battery-powered XBee temperature/light sensors, and the Digi ESP integrated development environment (IDE) for iDigi Dia/Python, plus associated cables, battery, and power supply.
iDigi Gateway development kits are compatible with Sprint, Verizon, AT&T Wireless, Vodafone, and other global GSM 3G networks.
The iDigi Gateway development kit with 3G mobile connectivity demonstrates how remote devices can be wirelessly connected via mobile networks and easily integrated into a cloud environment. It contains all the necessary hardware, software, and documentation to enable ZigBee-3G mobile internet connectivity, iDigi services over the internet, and Digi development tools.
