The F197x devices are ideal for applications such as cable modem termination systems (CMTS), fiber distribution networks, and hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) distribution nodes, and are optimized for the demanding requirements of the broadband and cable television markets.

IDT's F1975 and F1977 DSAs cover a wide frequency range from 5 MHz to 3,000 MHz while delivering low insertion loss and distortion. IDT's Glitch-Free technology protects amplifiers and analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) from damage during attenuation transitions by reducing attenuation overshoot (glitches) during most most significant bit (MSB) transitions by up to 95 percent. The F197x DSA features ultra-high IIP3 linearity of 65 dBm, a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 105 degrees Celsius, and a 75-ohm impedance for easy integration into data networks. The 6-bit F1975 DSA provides gain control in 0.5 dB steps with an insertion loss of only 1.2 dB (at 1 GHz). The F1977 device is the industry's first 75-ohm, glitch-free, silicon monolithic DSA, enabling customers to achieve 0.25dB gain control while maintaining excellent RF performance.

IDT's F197x development tools, also available from Mouser Electronics, allow engineers to easily evaluate F197x DSAs. Using the F197xEVBI evaluation boards, engineers can set the dimming via either the parallel control input or the serial control input (through the external connection and control). The board includes a DIP switch that allows users to set the dimming state without external connections to the control inputs. The F197xEVS kits are complete hardware and software solutions that allow engineers to digitally control the DSAs using a computer's USB output. The kits include the corresponding F197xEVBI board, as well as a USB digital control panel and interface cables.
