The solutions include a connector that is 30% smaller and 60% lighter compared to DIN 7/16 and a cable set with a patent-pending, waterproof one-piece sheath, ideal for use in outdoor mobile networks.

“These complete solutions meet the performance needs of the new generation of mobile network equipment, including base station antennas, radio networks, and signal optimization equipment,” says Darren Schauer, product manager for the global market at Molex, adding, “The increasing demand for sensitivity and bandwidth in mobile radio equipment has placed greater demands on the transmission of RF signals from the cellular antenna to the remote radio head (RRH). At the same time, restrictions on the size and weight of connectors are becoming increasingly stringent.”

Telecommunications original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and wireless service providers require coaxial connectors in various lengths and with different connection interfaces. Thanks to Molex's custom-made coaxial cable assemblies, customers no longer need to assemble the solution themselves. Three mating options are available for rectangular and vertical connectors: manual, quick-release, and keyed. This provides greater design flexibility without compromising electrical performance. Furthermore, the reduced connector size saves operating costs by lessening the load on the tower.
