The MT8220T, the third generation of Anritsu's BTS Master family, boasts enhanced performance and now includes a standard GPS receiver, improved dual-port dynamic range, a faster LTE scanner, and greater spectrum analysis capabilities—all in a lighter and slimmer design than previous models.

Combining a cable and antenna analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and internal power meter, the MT8220T BTS Master offers line sweep, a full suite of wireless measurements, ultra-sensitive spectrum analysis, and a sophisticated interference tracker, all in a compact, portable solution. It also incorporates a standard GPS receiver with antenna. By providing multiple testing capabilities, including comprehensive Over-the-Air (OTA) measurements and support for Remote Radio Heads (RRH) and MIMO, the MT8220T is well-suited for the coexistence of new systems, such as LTE, with existing networks.

The improved dynamic range of the cable and antenna analyzer's two ports, now exceeding 100 dB (110 dB typical) within the core cellular frequency range of 400 MHz to 2800 MHz, enables users to perform cellular repeater testing when isolation measurements of up to 100 dB are required. Dynamic range has also been enhanced to >90 dB between 2800 MHz and 4000 MHz, and >85 dB up to 6000 MHz.

The integrated spectrum analyzer, providing frequency coverage from 150 kHz to 7.1 GHz, incorporates enhanced sweep modes such as Fast, Performance, and No FFT. The MT8220T BTS Master also features Burst Detect, allowing users to capture and analyze fast transient signals with a duration of 200 µs or less and a 1% duty cycle within a range of up to 15 MHz. This simplifies the direction and location of the signal for troublesome signals with interference.

The MT8220T BTS Master boasts an improved housing. Its design is slimmer and lighter (4.6 kg) than previous-generation BTS Master analyzers. A high-contrast touchscreen display and backlit keypad make it comfortable to operate in both bright and low-light conditions. A menu allows users to save frequently used functions to the main menu screen, saving time, and a virtual keyboard enables quick and easy naming of saved files.

The MT8220T BTS Master offers a variety of options that provide versatility and allow its use in virtually any installed network. Wireless measurement options enable users to perform RF, demodulation, and OTA measurements for technologies such as CDMA and EV-DO, LTE FDD and LTE TDD, as well as fixed and mobile WiMAX.
