The HD RANGER 2 field strength meter provides the necessary measurements to understand, identify, and correct emerging problems in multicast IPTV networks, commonly used in hotels and other large-scale television networks such as CATV. Measuring IPTV quality parameters in the last transmission path is invaluable during the installation and maintenance of these networks.
The HD RANGER 2 allows you to receive IPTV programs and display them on screen along with other important service information. Thus, in addition to being an RF field strength meter, it is also an advanced IPTV tester.
Besides the IPTV receiver, other tools can be used simultaneously, such as the Transport Stream analyzer, which displays all the information contained in the PSI/SI tables related to the decapsulated Transport Stream of the IP packet frame.

Measurements under IPTV

The HD RANGER 2 as an IPTV infrastructure tester, shows the following IPTV quality and measurement parameters:
- Measurements on multicast reception: Packets received / lost / corrected, buffer usage percentage, numerical and graphical measurement of the transport stream bitrate and buffer usage.

- Measurements of received traffic: data network bitrate and IP packets received with errors.

- Internet parameters: Speed, IP address, protocol (UDP/RTP), First Error Correction (FEC) data, TS packets...

- IPTV service decoding.

- Server addressing data and communication protocol used (UDP/RTP).

- Image of the selected service.

ping-wPING Utility:
This diagnostic tool sends a series of ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) packets from the HD RANGER 2 to another device connected to the IPTV network. Under optimal conditions, responses will be received at similar intervals.
