It occupies half the width of a 19-inch rack and is 1U high. Its compact size allows four RF sources to be installed in the same space previously required for a single source. With frequency and level setup times typically around 280 µs, the R&S SGS100A is three times faster than conventional equipment in its class.

The compact R&S SGS100A offers RF performance comparable to the most advanced signal generators. It features a very high output level of +22 dBm (typical value) as standard and an electronic pass-through attenuator that covers the entire frequency range. Its reduced non-harmonics of -76 dBc up to 1.5 GHz make it the ideal signal source for converter measurements.

The R&S SGS100A is available in two models: the CW version generates frequencies up to 12.75 GHz. It can be used either as a local oscillator or for interference measurements in mobile telephony standards. The vector version with an integrated I/Q modulator offers a maximum frequency of 6 GHz and covers the most important frequency bands in digital communication standards. Optionally, RF signals from multiple R&S SGS100A units can be phase-linked for beamforming applications in the aerospace and defense industries.

The R&S SGS100A also reduces operating costs, as its initial cost is lower than other equipment in its class; furthermore, it consumes less power (only 70 W) and generates less heat. In addition to greater profitability, it also offers greater availability, since the equipment's calibration interval is three years.
