METRANET RDP products are distributed online to remote RDP system clients or external systems using BUFR or other standard graphics formats.
In addition to displaying RDP products, METRANET can also display real-time data. The display module can also accept interactive user requests to generate new products from existing real-time datasets. The display programs can run on any client workstation.
The METRANET suite includes a wide variety of products: base reflectivity, precipitation, wind speed, hydrometeor classification, forecast, and warning products. New products can be easily added to the system.
The METRANET RTDC (Real Time Display and Control) module allows the user to control the transmitter, antenna servo system, and signal processor according to desired scanning and processing requirements.
The METRANET programming module automatically manages the execution of various user-designed configuration sets (scanning modes) that can be sequenced based on time and/or external events.
The METRANET RDP program runs on a standard Linux-based server networked with the radar control processor (RCP) and any number of client workstations, which share the RDP database and accept the RDP product distribution stream.
Radar control functions are managed through a user-friendly graphical interface available in the RTDC interface module.
Time-critical data ingestion and product generation are performed through the execution of prioritized tasks overseen by a master task.
The flexible system architecture allows for a variety of system configurations, such as centralized product generation at the radar site, on a single server, distributed across multiple high-performance servers, or performed on individual workstations.
METRANET provides flexible archiving and retrieval for both real-time data and RDP products.
