It is primarily intended for private cloud environments created and managed by businesses and organizations. It provides accurate assessment of network communication quality for end-to-end (E2E) evaluation, even in virtual environments where hardware-based testing instruments cannot be deployed.

In recent years, enterprise systems and social infrastructure have increasingly adopted large-scale cloud-based architectures, resulting in highly distributed and complex system configurations. To ensure availability and stability in such environments, operations now typically span multiple data centers. In sectors such as healthcare and finance—where large volumes of sensitive information, including personal data, are handled continuously—there is a growing trend toward operating private clouds in-house for security and compliance reasons. In private cloud environments, server virtualization technologies like KVM are essential for enabling flexible system operation, and ensuring service-level performance is becoming increasingly important. However, hardware-based testing tools cannot be deployed in virtual environments, making it difficult to accurately understand the actual quality of communication between applications.

To meet this challenge, Anritsu has developed this software-based measurement solution that runs in KVM virtual environments to accurately and reproducibly assess end-to-end (E2E) communication quality under near-real operating conditions.

Product overview

Virtual Network Master is a software-based measurement solution that enables accurate assessment of communication quality across networks, including cloud and virtual environments. While the existing MX109030PC model supports AWS cloud environments*, the new MX109031PC model supports KVM virtual environments, allowing for precise communication quality assessment even in cloud and virtual environments where hardware-based test instruments cannot be deployed. By combining these models, users can also assess communication quality in hybrid environments where public and private clouds coexist.

Main features

• Measurement parameters: throughput, latency, jitter, and packet (frame) loss rate

• Operability: Supports remote operation and automation through the web browser's graphical user interface and APIs

• Interoperability: Supports end-to-end testing with other Virtual Network Master systems, as well as with MT1000A/MT1040A, enabling consistent visualization of network quality from public and private clouds to field environments.
