Using The Things Gateway, you can set up a LoRaWAN network in just five minutes; The Things Node can be used to create a LoRaWAN prototype in one hour; and The Things Uno can be used to develop a LoRaWAN proof of concept in one day. All three products are available for purchase from Farnell element14 in Europe and Newark element14 in North America.
The Things Network, a collaborative IoT data network, made its successful debut by covering the city of Amsterdam with LoRaWAN, a high-capacity, long-range, low-power protocol for the Internet of Things. There are now 500 designer communities in 94 countries supporting this user-operated network.

The products include:
• The Things Gateway: This LoRaWAN base station allows you to connect things to the internet. With its easy-to-use portal, users can create the most substantial aspect of their IoT data network. The Things Gateway offers a 5 km network coverage radius and can connect up to 10,000 devices.
• The Things Uno: The Things Uno is a useful board for practical IoT applications. It provides long-range connectivity (up to 10 km) to IoT projects with an additional Microchip LoRaWAN module and embedded antenna. It is fully compatible with the Arduino integrated development environment and existing add-on boards.
• The Things Node: The Things Node is the perfect LoRaWAN device for prototyping your ideas without having to deal with breadboards, wires, or sensors. Based on the SparkFun Pro Micro, the Things Node features an additional Microchip LoRaWAN module and an embedded antenna. It includes a temperature sensor, digital accelerometer, light sensor button, and RGB LED.

With support from a global community and technical resources, plus easy integration with the cloud and popular IoT platforms, users can set up their own LoRaWAN network in five minutes or create a LoRaWAN sensor prototype in as little as 60 minutes.
With the advancement of user-owned networks, offering low-power, long-range connectivity, The Things Network's product range enables previously impossible applications. Now, without extensive hardware or software expertise, it's possible to implement applications such as smart vehicle parking and management, or air quality and pollution monitoring.
Steve Carr, Global Head of Marketing for Premier Farnell and Farnell element14, comments: “As the distributor of choice, we seek out the latest technology products to enable our customers to develop solutions quickly and easily. We are pleased to partner with The Things Network in the manufacturing and distribution of these products. The application of LoRaWAN to create long-distance, low-power networks generates tremendous opportunities for innovation and truly democratizes the Internet of Things.”
Wienke Giezeman, Initiator of The Things Network, states: “Following our Kickstarter success, we are pleased to announce that our products are now available in North America and Europe. Our mission is to make LoRaWAN easy for designers, who would rather spend their time building their IoT applications than reinventing the wheel. This ready-to-use LoRaWAN network and prototyping boards will help designers get started right away.”
