This revolutionary development has been made possible by the cognitive capabilities of the Sigfox network and its Software Define Radio technology, which manages all the network and computing complexity in the cloud rather than on a device. This allows Sigfox to continuously improve its network's functionalities and make them available through a simple software update.

Admiral Ivory is a simplified connectivity service that already allows you to transform any short-range wireless device into a long-range IoT device, using a hardware component for just $0.20, as simple as the one you might find in a garage door remote.

Unlike other services currently available on the market, Admiral Ivory opens the door to the creation of connected and reliable assets and single-use IoT applications. Imagine, for example, being able to connect and track small packages and letters. Thanks to Admiral Ivory, this will be technically and economically feasible, representing a significant opportunity for the packaging, logistics, and retail industries.

This complements Sigfox's ultra-low-cost connectivity solution, Sigfox Admiral Blue. The technology allows inexpensive modules costing as little as $2 to send tiny packets of information over long distances while using very little power.

Together, these services will allow millions of entry-level devices to incorporate internet connectivity.

IoT Connectivity Anywhere: Monarch Cognitive Service
. Most IoT applications are sold and operated locally. However, manufacturers interested in exporting their products worldwide need to supply devices that can function anywhere on the planet to achieve the necessary economies of scale.

In response to this demand, Sigfox announces its new cognitive service Sigfox Monarch, which offers seamless connectivity worldwide by enabling IoT devices to automatically recognize and adapt to local communication standards.

Sigfox technology operates in unlicensed bands worldwide, with radio frequencies ranging from 862 to 928 MHz. Using unlicensed bands allows devices to send data to the cloud while consuming minimal power and at a very low cost. Sigfox Monarch provides a unique radio awareness service that enables devices to manage radio frequency changes without requiring any additional hardware such as GPS or Wi-Fi circuitry.

By enabling global assets to adapt effectively as they cross borders, Monarch represents a revolutionary solution for logistics, freight transport, and the consumer goods industry. Lost luggage will become a thing of the past thanks to Sigfox Monarch, as luggage can be located anywhere in the world. It will also allow manufacturers, including those of consumer electronics and home appliances, to have a single hardware design for products sold globally.

Location service

These new services add an extra layer of functionality and value to Sigfox's existing geolocation service. Atlas, formerly known as Sigfox Geolocation, is the world's lowest-cost integrated geolocation feature. It uses radio signal analysis to determine the device's location. Unlike GPS, the service does not increase power consumption and requires no additional hardware beyond the already integrated Sigfox chip.

Ludovic Le Moan, CEO of Sigfox, points out that “each of these devices radically reduces costs and barriers to entry for manufacturers looking to break into the IoT market. Manufacturers will benefit from faster time to market, lower production costs, and the ability to offer greater customization on each device.”.
