Nov18Therefore, Draka has recently launched the DRAKAMED (AS) cable range, designed for locations requiring special attention to prevent widespread fires affecting cable bundles and ensuring they do not spread throughout the network.
Its key distinguishing feature is a fire barrier located between the sheath and the water-blocking tape. Furthermore, its most important characteristic, besides withstanding prolonged fire conditions, is its self-extinguishing nature.

This means that once the fire is over, the cable itself, while guaranteeing the electricity supply at all times, extinguishes the fire present within it, preventing it from spreading through the network.

Nov19The design of the DRAKAMED (AS) Medium Voltage Cable, in addition to complying with national standards, also meets the requirements to ensure continuity of electrical service under the most demanding and severe conditions.
Furthermore, Draka announces that its DRAKAMED (AS) cable, in its OL and 2OL versions, was the first cable of this model to be certified by AENOR and, therefore, accepted by electrical companies as a standard for special applications within the electrical power distribution network. This is because it complies with the UNE 211620-5E standard, which defines the design and construction criteria, as well as the tests that must be withstood and passed.
The attached table shows the different types and specifications of the DRAKAMED medium voltage cable range.
