Profinet cables are often used in combination with an RJ45 connector in machine tools, packaging technology, and handling applications. While many machine and plant operators already rely on complete, readychain cable carrier systems, other users require cables supplied on reels that they can adjust to the required length and configuration. This might be the case, for example, when routing the cable through a screw connection in an electrical cabinet. In this scenario, only the cable fits, not the connector. To quickly attach the connector to the cable, igus has developed FastConnect technology for its flexible Profinet chainflex+ cables. This allows the new CF898.061.FC cable to be stripped and fitted with a connector in just a few steps.
 
igus has designed the inner sheath, shielding, and outer sheath so that the user only needs to adjust the tool once, then remove the cable, attach the connector, and close the cable. The CF898.061.FC cable is also undergoing testing in the igus test laboratory. In ongoing tests on the cable carrier, the Profinet cable has already successfully completed 7.8 million cycles.
