Historically, engineers developing cable assemblies had to create their designs, place multiple orders for connectors and cables, assemble everything manually, and then spend time testing and troubleshooting. Harwin's easy-to-navigate cable configurator, fully integrated into Harwin's automated processes, now allows engineers to develop functional configurations that meet specifications and can be delivered within very short lead times.
"Harwin's cable configurator will greatly simplify the work of engineers responsible for developing cable assemblies, freeing them up to dedicate time to other aspects of their product development," says Peter Schneid, vice president of marketing at Harwin.
"Unlike other tools that are 'locked' into a manufacturer or a third-party website, we've invested considerable resources in collaboration with Cadenas and created a support infrastructure that fully integrates with Harwin's existing ordering and manufacturing processes. As a result, the tool makes the design and procurement process as seamless, intuitive, and fast as possible."
With the new tool, users can configure Harwin's high-performance, high-reliability connectors on single- or dual-ended cable assemblies by simply selecting a few key design parameters. A real-time, 3D rendering can then be downloaded, along with a technical drawing, a complete bill of materials, and the option to request a quote. Product specialists will confirm pricing and lead times, which are typically a matter of days. If needed, users can also reverse-engineer designs to generate configurations and quotes for existing solutions.
Harwin has launched an innovative and intuitive standalone cable configuration tool. Developed in collaboration with Cadenas, a software developer specializing in strategic component management and component reduction, Harwin's online cable configurator reduces the time engineers spend designing cable assemblies by enabling them to develop "right-first-time" configurations online, which are then delivered ready for use in the target application.
