At InnoTrans 2026, taking place in Berlin from September 22 to 25, LAPP will showcase how modern cabling and connectivity solutions help address these challenges. In Hall 15.1, Stand 285, the focus will be on the new EPIC® TRAIN Cat.6A and EPIC® TRAIN Cat.5e patch cables.
Passenger information systems, video surveillance, and Ethernet-based control and communication networks are continuously increasing the demand for high-performance data transmission in rail transport. With a wide range of innovative cables, conductors, and connectors, LAPP is responding to the growing demands of the industry. The solutions offered by this leading provider of cabling and connectivity technology enable high data transmission speeds, require minimal installation space, provide exceptional mechanical robustness, and meet the certifications required for railway applications.

EPIC® TRAIN Cat.6A: High Bandwidth for Railway Communication Networks (RCNs)
With the EPIC® TRAIN Cat.6A patch cable, LAPP presents a solution specifically designed to meet the growing demands of modern railway communication networks. The cable supports data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s and is ideal for applications requiring high transmission speeds and maximum reliability. Thanks to its reduced outer diameter, the cable saves weight and installation space, allowing for higher cable density, especially in compact installation environments. As a pre-assembled solution with connectors installed at both ends, the patch cable also simplifies installation and reduces the risk of errors that can occur during on-site assembly.
For applications with high port density, a version with a particularly slim RJ45 connector is available. For environments exposed to higher levels of shock and vibration, a version with an M12 connector with integrated vibration damping ensures a reliable connection at all times.

EPIC® TRAIN Cat.5e: Flexibility for a Wide Range of Applications.
Another new product is the EPIC® TRAIN Cat.5e patch cable, designed for data transmission speeds of up to 1,000 Mbit/s. Like the Cat.6A version, this cable features a reduced outer diameter, decreasing both weight and space requirements inside the vehicle. The solution is available either as a cable assembly with one pre-assembled end, offering maximum flexibility in terms of cable length and connection concept, or as a fully pre-assembled version that reduces installation time and accelerates project commissioning.

“Digitalization is radically transforming the rail sector. Connected systems require high-performance communication networks, while the demands on safety, space requirements, and installation effort continue to rise,” explains Thorsten Grünberg, Director of the Rail Sector at LAPP. “With the new EPIC® TRAIN connecting cables, we offer solutions that precisely meet these requirements and provide tangible advantages to operators and rolling stock manufacturers in terms of installation, operation, and maintenance.”.

The two new EPIC® TRAIN Category 6A and 5e patch cables further expand LAPP’s comprehensive rail product range, which comprises more than 3,400 products for power and data transmission in rail applications and is available worldwide. Visitors to InnoTrans 2026 can learn more about the new products at the LAPP booth, located in Hall 15.1, Stand 285, speak with company experts, and discover additional solutions for safe, reliable, and efficient rail mobility.
