ITT ICS has fitted its new QXM12 Quadrax contacts to the FRCIR series of circular bayonet connectors. This pioneering design integrates four conductor wires and their shielded, twisted leads into the QXM12 contact. A special group of multi-contact QXM12 plastic inserts and wires forms a single connector. With this connector, designers can incorporate data transmission lines, Ethernet, MVB, WTB, and video, in accordance with VG95234 (where applicable), into the same connector, handling various types of data such as engine diagnostics, brake control, environmental conditions, passenger entertainment systems, networking, and lighting.
The new CIR-M12 Databus connector contacts are rated for 3 A (maximum current for 1 ms is 10 A), a 100 VDC operating voltage, and an insulation resistance of 10 GΩ. Mechanically, the insert is made of thermoplastic material in accordance with NFF16-101 and NFF16-102 standards and conforms to UNI-CEI 11170 (I2F2) and UL94-V40. The mating gasket is made of silicone rubber, and other parts are made of flame-retardant rubber. The metal parts are made of an aluminum alloy with a RoHS-compliant black epoxy resin varnish. The connectors operate within a temperature range of -40 to +125°C.
