ECONIDUR-coated connectors operate reliably in numerous industrial applications over extended periods, such as automation control and motor control systems. They support reliable signal transmission at speeds up to several gigabits per second and exhibit high resistance to long-term vibration, gas effects, and microfriction.

The key to this high quality and performance is the layered structure: ECONIDUR contacts are coated with an expertly designed nickel-phosphorus (NiP) coating that uses a sophisticated stacking configuration.

In general, the ECONIDUR coating achieves at least the same characteristics as a precious metal coating. Products coated with ECONIDUR are a reliable choice for resistance to friction and vibration. According to TE's internal analyses and calculations, in accordance with ISO standards (14067/14040/44), CO2 emissions are reduced by more than 44% compared to a precious metal coating, depending on the coating thickness, performance level, and connector type, contributing to greener manufacturing and supply chains. This decarbonized product helps customers meet their sustainability goals.

Although it is a new coating, the quality of the process and the product remains the same. TE has developed a set of measurement methods to quantify the thickness and structure of the layer.
