USB 3.0 significantly increases data transmission speed compared to USB 2.0, allowing transmission of up to 4.8 Gbps, ten times faster than USB 2.0 connectors. This enables seamless transmission of uncompressed, high-speed data, such as moving HD images.
USB3.0 allows for higher power when needed; the Micro connectors have 10 contacts that allow for an option for any signal at 1.0 amp per pin, or a power/signal option with two pins at 1.8 amps and the rest running at 0.5 amps; the operating temperature is -30° to 85° C.
The GCT PCB connector receptacles are backward compatible with Micro USB 2.0. Micro USB 2.0 cable assemblies are inserted into the USB 3.0 micro connector receptacles using the cavity on their left side, although data will be transferred at the lower USB 2.0 rate.
GCT offers bottom-mount SMT versions, standard for Micro USB connectors with pure SMT or shielded pins for added robustness. The gold plating is 30 ohms, allowing for 10,000 connection cycles. Types A/B feature a reverse Superspeed differential pin pair to enable OTG functionality.
USB 3.0 connectors are available from stock for same-day sample shipment. To expedite your design process, you can download 2D schematics, specifications, and 3D models from the GCT website.
