Molex Incorporated introduces a new 0.25 mm (0.010 inch) pitch FPC connector, which saves up to 40% of space compared to a similar 0.30 mm pitch connector for applications in mobile phones and other portable devices.This new SMT ZIF (zero insertion force) connector offers a more compact size in height, depth, and length than any other FPC connector on the market today.
Available in 21 to 39 pins, the Molex SMT ZIF connector features a strap mechanism on the terminals, ensuring excellent wire retention. The terminal design also provides full ZIF functionality, meaning no contact occurs between the wire and the connector during insertion, and protects the FPC contact areas from wear and damage.
The Easy-On™ frontflip mechanism provides easy cable access, a secure cable hold, and an audible click upon connection. The 0.25 mm pitch cable has a similar design and tolerances to the 0.30 mm pitch cable, making it more economical and easier to feed than 0.20 mm pitch cables.
The SMT ZIF connectors have a power and voltage rating of 0.2 A and 50 V, respectively. The connector design ensures safe and easy cable insertion. The 0.25 mm pitch FPC connectors are designed for pick-and-place mounting. Under-the-housing solder points save space, provide stability, and reduce stress on solder joints for surface mounting.
