With a height profile of just 4.20 mm, this push-button connector has one of the lowest profiles and insertion forces on the market today compared to connectors with removable cables.
“LED lighting manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to reduce the component height on their boards to achieve slimmer designs and minimize shadows or interference with the light source,” explains JB Jin, a wire-to-board connector specialist at Molex, adding: “Molex Lite-Trap wire-to-board connectors, with their push-button removable cable, bring to market one of the lowest-profile solutions to date to meet these requirements.”
The Lite-Trap connector's termination method is similar to that of Molex's well-known Wire Trap connectors, as well as certain push-in types, but requires less wire insertion force. A stripped wire is inserted into the connector, and pushing it in opens a double-contact, gate-style terminal that locks the wire in place, providing a secure electrical contact and high wire retention force. The Lite-Trap connector also features an easy-to-use locking mechanism that allows operators to make and undo connections without tools. These features combine to make assembly and disassembly, if needed, even for less experienced technicians.
Other features of the Molex Lite-Trap connector include a long cable insulation design that allows for stable cable placement, ensuring a firmer contact. Additionally, an innovative cable stop facilitates proper cable insertion in deep locations.
