In solar module manufacturing, 98% of junction boxes are still manually attached to the back of the modules. However, automating this process allows photovoltaic panel manufacturers to significantly reduce installation time. Automated module assembly is also more precise and less prone to errors than manual assembly.
This new product is also of interest to manufacturers who haven't yet fully automated their production but are considering making the switch. The SOLARLOK junction box for automated installation is flexible enough to meet customer needs and can also be manually assembled during the transition to an automated production line.
The flash test, which verifies the performance of the solar module and is currently usually performed manually, can also be carried out by robots using the junction box for automated installation. Connections are made via two dedicated test points. This eliminates the cumbersome manual cable connection process. This not only saves time but also increases the reliability of the test.
Highly protected contacts and no loose wires:
The quality of the connections significantly affects the performance and lifespan of a photovoltaic system. In the SOLARLOK junction box for automated installation, the connector contacts are protected from dust and moisture from the beginning of the process until final assembly. Therefore, the product offers the highest level of connection security; no other automated installation junction box with a contact provides such complete connection protection.
The standard coiled cables of the SOLARLOK junction box for automated installation ensure everything stays in place and are ideal for robotic assembly.
A design that prevents misuse
: Simple yet clever, the cable outlets are mounted at a 45-degree angle. This prevents installers from using the cables as handles when moving panels. The cable and connectors remain intact; no problems arise from misuse. Module manufacturers, installers, and consumers all benefit: properly functioning solar systems and fewer complaints.
The SOLARLOK junction box for automated installation complies with UL and IEC standards (IEC 61215 ed.2 – pending approval). TE supplies two junction boxes suitable for crystalline modules: one with contacts and one soldered.
The SOLARLOK junction box was presented by TE at the Intersolar trade fair, held from June 8 to 2011 in Munich, Germany.
