Equipped with full M8 connectivity for power, inputs and outputs and the DeviceNet fieldbus, this module offers a unique IP67-rated, small-form-factor solution for high-density input and output connections, integrated into CNC and robotic machines, as well as material handling and bottling equipment.

“As a more compact alternative to the current M12/M8 hybrid modules, the new IP67-compliant HarshIO M8 solutions are mounted directly onto the machine even in the harshest environments,” explains Eric Gory, product manager at Molex, adding: “The tight housing, combined with easy setup, makes the modules a cost-effective option for machine builders.”

Thanks to their IP67-compliant housing, Brad HarshIO modules are dustproof, liquid-proof, and vibration-resistant. On-machine mounting saves cabinet space and reduces costs associated with on-site wiring. Two integrated CAN fieldbus ports enable daisy-chaining or further cost savings.

HarshIO's flexible, 8-port design supports high-density input/output points for connecting sensors, actuators, or any simple digital signaling device in a compact footprint. Featuring built-in protection against short circuits and overcurrents, the configurable modules are equipped with diagnostic LEDs to visually indicate network status, power, and input/output status.

“Machine manufacturers need cost-effective connectivity solutions to replace complex junction boxes and terminals,” notes Eric Gory, and concludes: “Brad modules, suitable for harsh environments, have proven to meet the OVDA specification in tests conducted in the most demanding industrial environments, such as automotive, factory automation, and the food and beverage sector.”
