Equipped with an IP67-rated housing for direct machine mounting, Brad HarshIO modules are ideal for industrial applications exposed to liquids, dust, and vibrations, as demonstrated in impact, high vibration, and high temperature resistance tests.

The modules have been designed for applications that meet safety levels such as SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level 3) and Cat4/PLe and where communications via EtherNet/IP are required to exchange safety and control data and diagnostic information on a simple Ethernet network.

HarshIO modules consist of 12 safe inputs and 4 safe outputs, supporting the connection of single- and dual-channel safety devices, making them ideal for automotive applications operating robots in cells. The digital inputs and outputs can connect to both standard and safety sensors and utilize test pulses for connected standard outputs to perform diagnostics on panel lights, buzzers, and standard actuators. An integrated, overmolded memory key, available internally or via an M8 connector, saves the configuration and allows for module replacement in one minute without special tools or a complete re-commissioning process.

Advanced features, such as an integrated 2-port Ethernet switch with Device Level Ring (DLR) network topology, diagnostic LEDs, and a flexible IP address configuration method, simplify setup and operation. The integrated 2-port switch can be daisy-chained, allowing users to wire the HarshIO module without additional switches, thus reducing costs. Molex M12 Ultra-Lock™ connectors, featuring a push-to-lock mechanism, save machine space by allowing sensors and actuators to be connected directly to the input/output module, establishing an environmentally sealed Ethernet connection with an IP67 rating. HarshIO modules are compact, measuring only 235 mm x 60 mm x 48 mm (9.25” x 2.36” x 1.81”).

The units are Rockwell Automation Ready and compatible with Rockwell GuardLogix™ controllers. Commissioning is easy thanks to Molex's SNCT software and Rockwell Automation's Studio 5000 Logix Designer™ application. Certifications and regulatory approvals for the modules include: TÜV and ODVA, compliance with EN 61508 SIL3, Cat4/PLe according to ISO 13849-1, CE, RoHS, REACH, UL/cUL, and Korean and Chinese CC (CCC).
