“As is happening in many industries, the building automation and HVAC sector is now considering a migration to industrial Ethernet technology, and BACnet/IP could very well be the next big step for this industry,” says Leif Malmberg, Product Manager at HMS, Integrated Solutions. “With the implementation of Anybus CompactCom, manufacturers will also gain instant connectivity to 19 other industrial networks simply by changing the Anybus module. This opens up new business opportunities for manufacturers and significantly expands their market.”.
The Anybus CompactCom BACnet/IP includes an integrated 2-port switch, enabling the device to connect to the network in a typical fieldbus style (daisy-chaining), without the need to connect all devices through an external switch. This is a requirement for many end users today.
The Anybus CompactCom module acts as a server (B-ASC) on the BACnet/IP network. It is available with or without an enclosure and is approximately the size of a compact flash card. Thanks to its integrated web functions (such as dynamic web pages, email, and FTP), it is possible to obtain online statistics, email alerts, and other information about the device in which the module is integrated. For example, it is possible to receive an email notification whenever the device requires a service. The included two-port switch provides two 100 Mbit/s duplex Ethernet interfaces with RJ45 connectors.
