Both the male and female connectors are encased in a metal housing that provides complete protection against electromagnetic interference and signal degradation. The MSG3U is available in three configurations: with 29 and 41 standard pins, and with up to five Quadrax pins for Ethernet. The Quadrax version can transmit signals at speeds up to 100 Mbps, and its design allows users to select pins with or without grounding.
