The relays provide the output signals, with connectors for normally open and normally closed operation. The Digital-I/O functions are controlled via Modbus/TCP, an open protocol directly supported by many applications.

For serial ports, the NetCom plus 811 DIO uses well-known and proven protocols, drivers, and tools from the NetCom and NetCom PRO/WLAN families, so this model is recognized by the installed driver software. Compatibility with devices from other families is guaranteed.

Using WLAN operation, the model functions as both a client and an access point, thus providing a solution for Windows 7 and later versions, where Ad-hoc mode is disabled. WPA2 encryption is supported. Complete data exchange over WLAN and Ethernet/Internet can be secured via an SSL-VPN tunnel.
