Excel's challenge was to design a module with a small profile that would offer integrators a quick and easy way to complete the product, combined with excellent performance, and be the shallowest in the market. The result is a product that simply sets new standards.

Taking into account the challenges that many installation engineers and system designers have experienced, the new Excel module comes in a size of 28.3 mm in depth, nearly 10% smaller in depth compared to the smallest connector on the competing market.

The overall dimensions of the module are 16.2 mm (width) x 28.3 mm (depth) x 21.5 mm (height).
This reduced depth, along with the integrated cable pass-through ring within the butterfly clamp, allows the module to be installed in entry points from above, behind, to the side, or below.

Furthermore, it retains all the superb features of the Excel Category 6A Toolless shielded module, including high-quality cast molding, 360° shielding, and shielded butterfly opening.
A standard requirement for any Excel Category 6A product is verification by independent or third-party laboratories; Excel only works to the strictest standards. The new, smaller-profile module is no exception, designed, manufactured, and verified by Delta to the enhanced Category 6/Class EA specifications defined in ISO 11801 Second Edition Amendment 1 and ANSI/TIA-568-C.2. This module delivers significantly higher performance than published standards, specifically at a length of 5 meters when installed with Excel Category 6A shielded cables.

Excel believes this module will set a new benchmark in the market due to its size (it is the smallest on the market, due to its flexibility), multiple entry points for installation, reduced depth for easier installation, and performance—independent verification of ISO 11801 second edition and incredible performance even in shorter installation lengths.

Regarding this new module, Simon Robinson, Excel Product Manager, commented: “We listened to customer feedback and market requirements and reduced the depth of our renowned Excel Category 6A Toolless Shielded Module without compromising performance. This makes installation even easier, especially in confined spaces such as shallow or low-profile boxes, floor boxes, or anywhere else where space is limited, such as a data center.
The new Excel Category 6A Toolless Shielded Module (Ref. 100-181) is compatible with a wide range of sockets and faceplates on the market, as well as 16- and 24-port blank panels, available in both black and chrome versions. This product has been in stock since June 27, 2011.
Standard-depth and angled Excel Category 6A sockets will continue to be available.”
