Atlas-X1 connectors, part of the first certified Cat. 8 system, are available in UTP and shielded versions and have the same size, anchoring, and termination style across categories 5e, 6, 6A, and 8. This allows installers to benefit from a single termination process for the entire range.
They have protective blinds to keep the network free of dust and dirt, helping to increase the durability of the system, and a cable manager to facilitate termination without the need for tools.
The new models are also distinguished by being suitable for installation in air ducts (tested and approved by third parties) and supporting Power over Ethernet (PoE) power up to 100V (for self-powered equipment).
Specifically for PoE, the patented features maintain the contact point distance between the male and female connector to prevent potential arcing damage and thus ensure the integrity of the connection.
In this area, the unshielded Atlas-X1 connectors are the only ones of their kind to have a solid metal body that dissipates heat more efficiently (up to 53 percent more than their plastic counterparts in PoE applications).
The holding force technology, meanwhile, improves protection and prevents any possibility of accidental disconnection.
Safeguards the female connector from common 4P6C and 6P6C male connectors or from damage by four- or six-pin connectors.
The Atlas X-1 models are also the first on the market to offer thirteen icon colors (with QuickPort compatibility) to simplify network identification and application assignment.
Therefore, Leviton's new connectors support emerging networks and back up future migrations to 40G.
