List-Based Testing (LBT) is the first labeling system that manages the generation of cable labels in a hierarchical and customized way. The LBT system completely changes how cable labeling is defined by basing it on the selection of labels pre-loaded from a list generated on a PC. That is:
- First, information is gathered on the points to be certified.
- All elements that will be part of the certification scenario are named.
- The data is entered into eXport in an organized manner.
- The created list is exported to Wirexpert.
Wirexpert is now ready for the field technician to perform measurements at their own pace and without having to generate any labels, as they are all loaded onto the test equipment. The resulting workflow can be represented as shown in Figure 1.
The data that LBT uses to generate the measurement point labels are as follows:
1. Building: the name of the building where LBT will be used.
2. Floor: the number of floors in the building.
3. Telecommunications Room: the number or name of the telecommunications room.
4. Rack: the rack number or name.
5. Panel: the panel number or name.
6. Port: the port number or name.
Figure 2 shows an example of the labels that would be generated in a typical installation.
The definition using the LBT tool is very simple, as can be seen in Figure 3.
LBT is ideal for project managers who need flexibility when defining cable labeling for an installation, allowing measurements to be taken in a non-sequential order so that the field technician can take measurements in the order that is most convenient at the time of installation.
